Thanks to /., I was referred to an article with a pretty straightforward explanation of how Bayesian filtering works in attempting to rid your e-mail of SPAM. There's even a pointer to a drop-in Bayesian filter for Outlook 2000 and Outlook XP. Too bad for me, I am still using Outlook 98...

At least the Mozilla mail program implements a Bayesian SPAM filter. Which reminds me... I should probably download the 1.4 RC 3 (Release Candidate 3) release of Mozilla.
